Red rose and thank you

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I just wanted to take the time to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to look at my posts and especially those who have subscribed to this blog. The support is appreciated. It has also been great reading your comments. Please feel free to comment on any of the posts and as often as you like, I would love to know what you think of the blog and images.

On the business side of things I have been busy on all the background work, including the main photography website. Yesterday I had a meeting in Dundee with the graphic designer I have been working with and gave approval for the new logo. I hope to be able to share it with you soon and start using it on this site. I am also excited because that means new stationery and business cards in the not too distant future….

As no post is complete without an image here is today’s, I thought I would share something a little different, hope you like it.

Arlene has just achieved an HNC in Social Sciences, grade A,which is a great achievement whilst being Mum to a young family and expecting another, Maya, who is due soon. As a celebration of that achievement I thought I would post some images from when I was in Dunfermline to photograph Alan and Arlene with their family a little while back.

The Rescue Chickens

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Maggi and Richard, friends and neighbours of mine, keep some hens which they get from farmers when they have no more use for them. The other week they received 6 more and they looked such a sorry state with their floppy combs and patches of feathers missing. It takes them a little while, with some coaxing, to realise that they don’t have to stay in the hen house and that being outside is not so bad. I could not resist posting a picture of this one, it was just the way her comb flopped over her eye at a jaunty angle.

At first the cats were taking a keen interest in the new arrivals but they soon lost interest.

Richard and Maggi are both Reiki healers. If you have never tried this I can recommend it, it is incredibly relaxing and I always feel great afterwards. Their website can be found at www.cottagereiki.co.uk

Lucy is totally adorable. She was just a week old when these images were taken and loved to sleep.

Photographic Training

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

As a photographer, I believe it is really important to keep refreshing your skills and learn new techniques and business skills. As well as learning lots, you have a lot of fun and meet some great new people. Earlier in the year I was in the Lake District attending a course at Annabel Williams Contemporary Photographic Training. I can not recommend CPT highly enough, the training is top notch and I always come away from the studio feeling really motivated.

Local families come in and model for us in return for a selection of photographs from the shoot. They were a great family and we all had a ball. Here are a few of the images I made.
